About Brian Min
Welcome to my homepage!

I am Dr. Brian Min, an Assistant Professor within the Department of Political Science at Wayne State University, located in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan. Prior to my current role at WSU, I served as an Assistant Professor at Valdosta State University in Georgia. My academic journey includes the attainment of a Ph.D. from the prestigious Askew School of Public Administration and Policy at Florida State University, a B.A. in Public Administration from Michigan State University, and a master's degree in Sociology from Yonsei University in Korea.

My research interests lie at the intersection of public and nonprofit organizations, focusing particularly on management dynamics. I am deeply intrigued by the behavioral perspective when examining collaborative efforts between government and nonprofit organizations. Understanding the nuances of how these entities interact and cooperate is essential in enhancing their collective impact on society.

In addition to this, I investigate the influence of external factors on the efficiency of nonprofit organizations. Events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters have a profound impact on the operations and effectiveness of nonprofits. I delve into how these unforeseen challenges affect the functioning and resilience of these organizations, contributing to the broader discourse on disaster management and preparedness.

My research endeavors have found their place in esteemed publications such as the Nonprofit Voluntary Sector Quarterly (NVSQ), Administration and Society (A & S), Public Performance & Management Review (PPMR), Nonprofit Management and Leadership (NML), and the Journal of Public Affairs Education (JPAE). Through these outlets, I explore topics that are close to my heart.

My dedication to scholarly pursuits has been recognized through various national awards. Notably, I received the 2021 Emerging Scholar Award from the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA), as well as the 2020 Founder's Fellow distinction by the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). My commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion has also been acknowledged through accolades such as the Diversity Scholar Award from ARNOVA.

I invite you to delve into my homepage, where I share my insights, research findings, and a glimpse into my academic journey. Thank you for visiting!
